so..had the dreaded squash tourney today - not very good - got beat 11-9 11-7 11-9. Actually I suppose as good as expected against this guy. Consolation tourney is Tuesday 8pm so will see if that goes better.
So..back to poker - good day today - played for about 8 hours.
Started with some 25c-50c limit OH8 - only 3 or 4 players but it was very juicy game - made about $15 on that.
Then did a 30p $5 tourney and came second in that for $41 ($36 profit). Played pretty tight after getting a big stack early on. doubled up first with AK - raised preflop - to 100 with blinds 15-30 (I pretty much had my starting stack of 1500) 3 callers - flop is KcJc9s I bet the pot - about 400 next guy folds other guy who has me covered goes all in. I hate being all in with just a pair so early on but risked it and he had Qc7c - I hold up. About 2 hands later I pick up AQ and make it 100 to go again -everyone folds but the same guy who goes all in for 1600. Normally I'd fold this so early on but was feeling it and anyway he just went all in on a 4 flush so I don't think I have to worry about him having a better hand. He has AJ and I hold up again. That got me to about 6000. On the 2nd table (down to 20) I worked my way over11000 then the final table was pretty quiet I had enough to get to heads up pretty easily - but was shortstacked by that point.
I did about another 4 30p tournies but didn't cash in any more. to be honest I do need fairly good cards to do well in tournies - if they don't come I tend to get blinded out
Played lots of OH8 pl 25c cash game - just buying in for 5% of my roll and leaving if doubling up and it went pretty well - doubled up more often than not and tripled up a few times. Lost a few buy ins as well but still good.
Hands I remember:-
AhAs3h10s - flop 4h5h9c - I had about $8 at start of hand and had raised pot preflop with 5 callers (can only raise pot size) - anyway great flop nut flush draw 2nd nut low draw straight draw and pocket aces - so I bet pot on flop - about $5 - reraised all in by 2 people - completely miss the turn and river. That one sucked. I had to be the favourite over just about anything!
AhAdKd10s - not a good low hand but worth playing for the hi - I limp in (had $7) - a big stack makes it a dollar - and two shorter stacks call - back to me - I decide to make a risky squeeze play and reraise the pot - the big stack folds and the other 2 go all in - I call - scooped that pot - neither of them caught a low hand - that was a nice >$20 pot.
Last hand of the night A2Q9 - I've only $6 in play - someone makes it a dollar to go - about 5 callers. Flop 85K - initial raiser bets the pot which would put me all in and two people go all in after him - I make a loose call know full well I can only win half pot but with so many people in playing for the lo might be profitable. Anyway I think I have missed lo when the turn and river are a J and a 10 but for some reason I am getting the pot - oh - duh I have a straight! That was a nice $20 pot to finish off night. Total fluke but that's fine.
Oh - forgot one hand from NLHE 5c-10c (played that for a little while) stack about $7 limp in for 10c with several others with Ac2c - flop AA8 - there were 7 players in - I'm 4th to act - all checked to me - I just check - might not have the only ace and don't want to make it too obvious if it is - turn is the 4th ace - a short stack goes all in for $1.5 - I just call (there are players still to act whose chips i want too - although I thought smooth calling was a bit obvious) a guy behind me with about $6 calls too - river is a Q - I was about to just bet $2 then I thought nah just go all in - he'll never believe me - so I did and he called with KJ - wow not even the queen or the 8!
Closing roll $180.62
